It pays to be known. Learn more about the Radical Accelerator

I get a lot of questions about personal branding aka building a reputation known by many.

I am going to start with the why and end with the how.

No matter what you do, being known and respected (by more people) for a unique ability creates opportunities and leverage.

But here is the rub. In your local market you can only achieve so much popularity or awareness no matter how good you are. Word of mouth only travels so far. Local speaking or involvement only reaches so many people.

In today’s digital and global world this is limiting both your opportunities and your bank account.

When you are known by thousands or hundreds of thousands of people as a specialist in something it pays dividends, creates leverage, and supplies security.

Every single industry is being made “national” with technology and AI. If you think your local market is enough or safe you are gambiling against billions of dollars being spent the other direction.

The bottom line. If you want to build more financial opportunities, more leverage, and more security then you should be building awareness of your unique skills outside of your local comfort zone.

How do you do it?

You need to be a specialist in something.

You need to magnify and amplify that specific ability so you become known as an authority.

You don’t have to be better than anyone else in your field but you need to be different and unique.

How do you do this?

You need to create consistent social media content with you sharing your specialization. Videos. Quotes, Graphics. Yes!

You must share your specific and unique point of view. Be consistent. Stay focused.

Then you need to borrow leverage to expand your reach until you have it yourself.

Borrow leverage = getting awareness and “glow” from a source of credibility larger than your own.

Sources of leverage? Articles in the press, speaking engagements, going on podcasts, collaborating with larger influencers in your niche (sharing their leverage).

The keys: Be specific. Be different. Be consistent.
